How Does Forma RF Skin Treatment Work?
Radiofrequency skin treatment is quick and relatively painless. During your appointment, your provider will use the Forma RF device to target the specific problem areas.

What Can I Expect During My Forma Radiofrequency Session?
Before your first Forma treatment session, your provider will conduct a skin exam to help customize your experience and ensure you’re happy with your results.
During your treatment, your provider will apply a layer of ultrasound gel to your face to aid in conducting the radio waves into the desired area. Following this step, the Forma device is gently glided across the skin in even, circular motions as it gradually works to heat the underlying tissues and promote natural healing.
You may experience some tingling or warmth during your session. For radiofrequency facial treatments targeting deeper layers of skin the heat may feel more intense, but it should not feel painful or like a burning sensation. Your provider will closely monitor the temperature at the treatment area to ensure it stays in a safe but effective range.
What Can I Expect After My RF Facial Treatment?
While RF facial rejuvenation and skin tightening is less invasive than other treatment methods, you may experience some mild side effects. These include:
- Redness
- Mild swelling
- Mild pain and discomfort
Typically these symptoms will clear on their own within 24 hours of your session. In some cases it may take a few days for skin to return to its normal color. If redness and swelling persist use a cold compress and antihistamine medication to help alleviate the discomfort. You may also take over-the-counter painkillers to manage any lingering pain.
It is best to avoid applying any makeup or heavy cosmetic products until the day after your treatment. Serums may be used to help boost healing and skin repair. Be sure to wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin from additional damage.
When Will I See Results?
It’s important to remember that radiofrequency facials work from the inside out. It will take time to see noticeable results – typically within 2 to 6 months of treatment. A follow up session may be necessary to achieve the desired results for patients with more significant skin issues.
