Botox – Pressing Pause on the Aging Process

Wish you could press pause on aging? You can!

Many men and women have discovered the benefits of Botox and Dysport, which have not only slowed down the aging process, but also reversed time through their appearance.

Botox and Dysport are both types of botulinum toxins. They work by preventing muscle contractions by blocking neurotransmitters from nerves. It is indicated for softening and getting rid of wrinkles, typically on lines in between the eyebrows, crow’s feet, forehead, and platysma (neck bands). Other areas commonly treated include lateral nose lines or “bunny lines”, for the “dimpled” chin, lines around lips and on the masseters (jaw line muscle) to create a smoother, softer, narrower jaw line. By relaxing the masseter, the overall appearance of the face softens, and produces a pleasant oval shape.

Other uses of botulinum toxins include hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). The maximal results of Botox are seen in 14 days and last approximately 3-4 months. Most patients are able to continue on with their day-to-day tasks after receiving treatment, leaving no down time to consider although vigorous exercise should be avoided. When choosing any cosmetic or medical treatment with botulinum toxins, make sure to seek the expertise of a dermatologist to guide you to the most natural and effective treatment plan. Treatment plans vary from person to person; so don’t hesitate to make an appointment to learn which approach is best for you!
